Academics

StudentsAs an International Baccalaureate World School, the York Academy offers a unique learning environment unlike any traditional public or charter school in York County. This transdisciplinary approach to educating the “whole child” provides an opportunity for students to learn about themselves, their community and the world around them.

Students take responsibility through their own learning through an inquiry-led approach. By developing the attributes of the IB Learner profile, they also learn how to demonstrate respect for themselves and others, developing international-mindedness by working with others for a shared purpose and taking positive change for action. Our students begin receiving instruction in the Spanish language in kindergarten. From sixth grade on it becomes a major subject, and students are expected to be bilingual by graduation.

York Academy students are engaged in the classroom and in the local community. They are constantly building the skills necessary to become tomorrow's leaders and changemakers.
