Early Release Days & PTO Dress Down Days

Dress Down Days

To show our commitment to higher education, students may substitute a college or university shirt for their uniform shirt on early release days. All other uniform requirements remain the same and students who do not wish to wear a university or college shirt are to wear uniform tops. Remember, professional sports teams are not universities!

In addition, the York Academy PTO holds Dress Down Days each month. With a $1.00 donation toward their efforts, students and staff may wear their favorite school-appropriate attire. Students are also welcome to wear York Academy shirts/sweatshirts!

All School Spirit and PTO Dress Down Days will be updated on the calendarPlease help your child exercise good judgment when selecting school-appropriate clothing. At a minimum, school-appropriate clothing should meet the following standards:

  • Tops should be long enough to extend to the waistline of the pants/skirt/shorts, have sleeves and a modest neckline. Crop tops, muscle shirts and spaghetti straps are not appropriate for school.

  • Bottoms should fit at the waistline and must be no more than four inches above the knee. Leggings, tights, yoga pants and pajamas are not school-appropriate.

  • All clothing must be free of double-meaning, suggestive slogans or words, advertisements of illegal products or profanity.

  • All clothing should be in good repair, free of rips or tears.

  • Undergarments must be completely covered by clothing at all times.

  • Shoes should have a closed toe and back. Flip flops, slides, and slippers are not school-appropriate.
