Admissions

York Academy Regional Charter School was established by three chartering districts—Central York, York Suburban and The School District of the City of York. In accordance with our school charter, each grade is filled with a specific number of students selected by lottery. Applicants not selected in the lottery are placed on a waiting list.

If all seats are not filled by students from the chartering districts, open seats are made available to applicants from other districts throughout the state. Currently, students from 11 districts attend the York Academy.

The York Academy is currently accepting applications for the 2018-2019 school year. Although most grades have a waiting list, parents are urged to submit an application, since sometimes students leave the school because their families must relocate. If this happens, openings may become available, and your child could still be offered admission during this school year.

If you are interested in submitting an application for your child to attend York Academy for the 2019-2020 school year, a family member must attend an Information Meeting during the open enrollment period. Attendance is required to ensure that parents fully understand that because we offer the International Baccalaureate Curriculum, the expectations of our students are different from traditional public schools. 

Please join us at one of these Meetings:

•  Tuesday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m.
•  Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 a.m.
•  Thursday, January 31 at 6:00 p.m.

All sessions will be held in the Lower School Media Center.  Registration is not required. Attendees will receive an Enrollment Application for students in kindergarten through 10th grade. A lottery will be held after the open enrollment period and families will be notified by mail or phone of their child's acceptance into the York Academy.

Please note that even if you have already submitted an application, you will need to do so again, so that your child can be included in the lottery for the 2019-20 school year. As part of our charter, we are not permitted to keep previously submitted applications on file for the next school year.

If your child is offered admission, will need the following documents to complete the registration process and enroll your student in York Academy:

•  Personal identification of the parent/guardian
•  Proof of child's identity (birth certificate)
•  Immunization record and current medical records
•  Proof of residence
•  A copy of transcripts for any previously attended school
